The Annual St. Patrick’s Day Dinner will be Sunday, March 17, 2013.

Join the Charitable Irish Society for our annual St. Patrick’s Day Dinner.  This will be the Society’s 276th anniversary dinner.

When: 6:00pm cocktail reception, with 7:00 pm, dinner.  Sunday, March 17, 2013

Where: The Fairmont Copley Hotel

Our keynote speaker will be John Sweeney, president emeritus of the AFL-CIO.

The selection of Mr. Sweeney coincides with the centenary of the Dublin General Strike of 1913 and the importance of the Irish in the American labor movement.

Please join us for the Charitable Irish Society’s Annual President’s Reception.

Our guest speaker will be Professor Joseph L. Lee.
Professor Lee, renowned Irish historian and Director of Glucksman Ireland House at New York University, will speak on the historical legacy of the 100th anniversary of the Dublin General Strike of 1913. The Dublin Lock Out, or General Strike, has been described as one of the most important events in both Irish and British labor history and has been seen in retrospect as a dress rehearsal for the Easter Rising of 1916.

The President’s Reception will include appetizers, a full bar and entertainment by the Boston College vocal group, The Heightsmen.
