A Celebration of Irish Revolutionary Women and the Irish Language

Co-sponsored by The Eire Society of Boston and the John J. Burns Library, Boston College

Friday, November 18, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Burns Library, Boston College

(doors open at 5:00 p.m. for exhibition viewing with Burns Library docents)

Join us for a special Friday evening opportunity to view the Burns Library's new exhibition, “Irish Women Rising: Gender and Politics in Revolutionary Ireland, 1900-1923,” which features an original 1916 Proclamation and newly acquired material from collector Loretta Clarke Murray, who will also be present for the occasion.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m., Brian Ó Conchubhair, Director of the Center for the Study of Languages & Cultures, University of Notre Dame, will engage us with a talk and discussion on the importance of the Irish language during Ireland’s revolutionary period and today.

Soft drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be served, along with coffee and desserts.

Visit the Burns Library website for more information about the exhibition.
